Theodore Parker Redux : writings adapted from Prayers by Theodore Parker The British and Foreign Unitarian Association Essex Hall 1910
Supreme Love, that needs nothing other than recognition, may we all enter into your presence. We are held in awe, open to understanding ever more as Wisdom. Together we can inspire justice, be heartened by love and blessed by our communion. Supreme Love we know that there is no requirement for sacrifice, no false or unnecessary offerings from our breath or our lips. This openness to justice, to goodness and to love blesses today and every day. Supreme Love may we be willing in the shadows and light of All That Is to work through and beyond our duties and our challenges.
(P1 1-17 )
Thank you for the world around us, the radiant joyful day and also the covered over and stormy day. Together this brings all that we are and all that we yet may become. Each day I give thanks for the movement of our hands, for the enduring strength of our hearts. Thank you for a recognition that I can turn to a better way. That love is holy to every child, an to every aging person and that as we may have fallen, so we can also stand again. There is an infinite love that allows each wanderer home, safely and humbly.
(P1 18-25 P2 1-15)
May I be open to the guidance that allows me to use this world well. In each moment, and with each challenge may I be open to wisdom, to goodness and to respect. May each moment of drought be refreshed in an open invigorated spring. May I see what is bad, what are expressions of neglect. May I strive to live in unity with all, loving them with all the challenges that I have around loving myself. May I love the unlovely. May I work for those whose burdens weigh heavily upon them. Burdens of ignorance, burdens of wickedness, burdens of lack of acceptance in each of our many contradictions. May I hope to be part of a time in which seeking this guidance allows for a forever flow of loving kindness between all humanity and around and through All that there Is.
(P2 16-33 P3 1-3)
Help us to experience guidance, no subtle laziness or slowness denying this presence Beloved. May no passion distract us from the wisdom offered, so that with mind and conscience, with heart and soul we believe we are the drop and the ocean. May this truth sit deeply within our life’s understanding, may justice open our longing for the world and in this experience present love as a beatitude that is our heart’s core.
(P3 4-10 )
In any moment of darkness teach us to remain open. May we keep our faith shining even in this darkness, yes a beacon that is home, a haven in every storm. May this openness allow strength for chosen and given duties on this day, with a hope that sustains offering joy at each stage of trial.
( P3 11-18 )
Supreme Love a presence within all space and time, within every humble heart that seeks, may we see thanksgiving, may we be willing to receive inspiration for each future day. Supreme Love pray in our prayer. Teach what we should ask to be taught, may this be service and may there be guidance. We bow our spirits into a Supreme Love that has no boundaries, offers infinite wisdom, realises justice beyond our understanding and that allows a rejoicing love. This rejoicing love is tender, is our deepest self stepping outside, is unconditional beyond a parent’s. Supreme Love we do not know how to hold all of this rejoicing love even as we try, open to an unmeasurable loving kindness that laps ashore again and again.
(P3 19-29 P4 1-8)
Thank you for the gift of gratitude, displayed in signs everywhere around us. The Green the Soil we walk upon that our feet taste each day. The Sky wondrous above. Day gives voice unto each day, night speaks unto night, rivers ever flowing, ocean ebbing and flooding. All together with this sky of effervescent awe offer us power, generate wisdom allowing for our deepest humanity, Love.
(P4 9-19)
Central Fire, Radiant Light of all this magnificence our senses feel, is but a drop in the ocean our universe. These things sensed are but a sparkle of All That Is , a whisper of wisdom, a faint breath of loving kindness. With that Central Fire Love is deep within and we should not fear the ocean. Let us turn as a child and embrace the loving longingly with an unfailing trust. Let us rejoice not feel shaken. Let our third eye experience beyond as it is loving the essence of Radiant Light that is in all of us.
(P4 20-33 P5 1-6 )
Let us remember now in prayer each temptation, each sorrow, each trial, each care. May the guidance of Supreme Love embolden our duties, strengthen us to bear and do this day’s work as faithful believers in hope. May each moment of passion generate a resplendent connection, cooling any unhelpful heat. Where we embrace personal interest and ambition, may it never freeze the depth of our gratitude. Let us disperse darkness with wisdom, let our selfishness follow into justice in the depth of our soul. May duty beyond be our Supreme Love, leaving desire as part of and never the whole. As desire becomes dutiful our life is lived as a prayer. Let this feeling live in our hearts, may it be strong as a faith that rarely fails and yes a faith we are proud of. May this way of being be experienced as a part of this Supreme Love. May our souls fill with spiritual gift. May we step toward goodness in prayer, in work and with tears and laughter bring a glorious creation of Supreme Love into a warm and deep embrace of All That Is.
(P5 7-33 P6 1-5)
Spirit of Life within and beyond, soul of souls, holder of the world, we are with you in each morning gratitude. Deep form our heart seeking the gift of the Spirit of Love. In sun, in rain our spirits are fed. With inspiration for the clamour of our hungry minds, ever revealing truths unto our open conscience. Spirit of Life may we all experience the gift of Love.
(P6 6-16)
May I breathe into my experience the gift of care shown to each blade of grass, that is there in any flower as a beacon in a hedgerow. May I breathe into beauty the stars above my head, the ground beneath my feet, that beauty in the heart of me. In the heart of everyone. Here I can acknowledge justice, challenge harms into goodness, removing any thing with darkness in its motion. May I imbibe such unbounded love that a world fairer holds, that each error bequeaths a deeper love to meet me even as I fail a thousand times. Thank you for the voice in my heart, that Spirit of Life in all, that withholds without my thought follies, inadequacies and wrong thinking; yet somehow co-creates holy, noble truths in my heart.
(P6 17-28 P7 1-8)
Spirit of Life open gratitude for the high examples of human excellence who create and respond at precious moments. May these beacons Guide us safely to expressions of peace and heaven here right now and into the everlasting mystery.
( P7 9-13 )
May we be open and true to our gift. In darkness may our heart hold us, nor despair for a moment that there is goodness, there is truth. May we fix our eyes on the true, the right, the holy, the beautiful and good, fix our eyes here until love affirms and moves beyond any threat of defeat. May we be willing to be taught to be blameless in our daily life, large in our conduct that transcends the human into timeless being and acting. Help us to love therefore everything in front of us equally or more than ourselves. To love as created justice, to love in sharing truth, and allow this love everywhere. When we are weak, be willing to receive strength. When we fall from our highest aim, even for the thousandth time may we humbly return our hearts open once more. This open heart can then hold every passion that wars against our soul, in an ever expanding universe. One that shows us eagles wings, showers us in a rain to dissipate unhealthy temptation and to nourishes duty and action to serve All That is around within and beyond us .
( P7. 14- 33 P8 1-11 )
Spirit of Life bless each breath of each finite life. May the each youth spring into this life openly loving and trusting their Spirit of Life and walk beside all others with the humility and the strength of the Spirit of Love. May we be open to be honest, willing to love others and respecting the deep integrity of our own soul. May we never be turned by fear of another, or drawn darkly by their admiration.
Here we can therefore be nobler, braver and holier. Let love flow to any that hate, in unprocessed resentments and into earthly breaths of true hope.
(P8 12-25 )
Supreme Love that is within and fully around us, opening into every point of space, inviting every point of spirit into a power and wisdom that can and will lifer every soul. Lifted into a light of Love that gathers every strayed and scattered spirit. May we hold communion with this presence as prayer, grateful for any feelings of joy, present to ourselves and to of ourselves as present in Supreme Love.
(P8 26-30 P9 1-6)
Supreme Love remembers, holds. This ever opening needs not praise or prayer as it is present, sustaining. Even as we know our friends may be faithless and unforgiving, that we may hide as a child from our source and our hope, there is a generosity of experience and hope that forever flows. There is no distance between me, between us and touching this loving kindness. It’s there in the footsteps of the morning, filling shades of evening and exquisitely too as we sleep.
(P9 7-21)
Loving kindness here in gratitude for All That Is, fertile in wonders, rich in beauty to each of our hungering senses. In gratitude for the care of the ground, the watering dews from ever providing skies, moistening season by season with the river of showers filed, garden, hill and town.
Thank you for the beauty brought forth in every stream of water, every hillside and every pathway of nature and of human making that allows and holds daily work. Thanks you for all gathered in the lily’s fragrant cup, a higher loveliness than even Solomon ever put on; in such beauty of the imperishable stars above e experience an alphabet of loving kindness as tender, as hopeful, as a reflection of all that is challenge and all that is to cherish. And in this thanking there is a deeper sense of a tenderer, lovelier and more holy way as now is revealed this loving kindness in open holiness of the heart to all of creation, as children guided and receiving of a precious gift.
(P9 22-32 P10 1-9)
Thank you for our senses, gifts of a universal spirit of Life. Gifts of touch, sight and sound and the beauty reflected deep within. Spirit of Life thank you for the spiritual powers that justice and truth, with love and faith held as flowers in the soul, yes these imperishable stars of human spirit. Spirit of Life touching us with every blade of grass fed with a night’s dew or the dawn’s rain, the warming and watering of each root. Such inspiration falls down on this child, now fed as a strong and flamelike flower with an unspoken wisdom, a present justice, with holiness, with love.
(P10 10-23)
Beloved Earth what can render to thee for the smallest of the bounties you have bestowed ? May we live blameless to your contradiction, let alone your destruction. that we may be as flowers in the field, that our lives within are fragrant, and without equally fair, that what is promise is spring, what is blossom is summer. May the harvest of Earth’s heaven be held here in honour of the future life of All That Is.
Incomparable Earth you cannot know every babe that the eternal echoes bestow. Nor every smallest presence of all existence shimmering, developing even as you hold them, somehow differently too as we observe them. Some self-developing some self-correcting and All That Is holds and wipes tears from the challenge, obstruction from all the membranes that challenge and hold the Spirit of Life as a Spirit of Love. It is in the knowing that out there glowing is a future that is exquisitely because there was hope for how it might be. A part of that hope yes was and is me. As my heart grinds in the soul of life it is this full and open knowledge that guides us forward with gratitude. No falling is beyond the chance to still be a wholeness before this future seemingly designed to show us that goodness does what goodness does. Including the comfort and hope through the suffering.
Beloved Earth we pray that we are strengthened for this duty. Patience ot bear the challenges. Wisdom to place our house in order, that in holiness we find a faith of loving kindness to good to all that is around and beyond us. This may Earth’s future come with the presence and experience beyond any human expectation.
(P10 24 – P11 25 )
Creator, Protector, Mother, Father we lift a psalm of thanksgiving and in a prayer of being seek communion beyond each necessary breath. Communion that is charged with the duties, cares and delights of this mortal life. Here before all that is, with our daily toils, common life murmuring in our ears and yet – our souls lift up our hearts towards ……..new wisdom, new justice, and to feel a deeper love for all that we share. Human to human. Human with Earth. This is no worship, perhaps not even a prayer but a sense tingling acceptance that the universe enfolds the humblest into the fabric of creation and protection. The sky, the cavern, the river mountain and ocean paint canopies in every colour seen and imagined. On the sunniest and the cloudiest days our flying globe lifts its voice singing at morning and evening and at noon, a psalm of joy into a praise of the incredible experience of another heartfelt day. We feel the aches of sorrow, the glow of joys of this world, with thanks. Stepping forward daring to hope for future glories. We deeply desire to feel all of time Creator, all of space Creator. Mother Father Father Mother in our souls as a continual resident, for the Spirit of Life and the Spirit of Love that is our heart.
( P11 26-29 P12 1-26)
Supreme Love thank you for this wondrous and lovely world. Here we have been placed somehow .For the beauty of summer, for the storied promise of spring, the earnest of harvest, and all weeks that shower us with experience of goodness, of an infinite love. in gratitude for grass and hillside, corn swaying to deliver our future, the sheer extravagance of a pattern weaved into life’s transcendent beauty. We are blessed by the beautiful and the ordinary, the sublime among things low, for good amidst evil, and the infinitely expanding.
( P12 27-32 P13 1-8 )
Open gratitude for daily happiness that embraces us, joys in our work and the experience of hope that connecting our work and toil to each other brings. Deep gratitude for simple household pleasures, for friendship, the blessedness of love in all its forms. we are blessed to allow our understanding of this life to inform us of how we wish the life of those after us to flourish beyond previous expectations.
( P13 9-21 )
With our often deceived hopes, failed expectations we remain assured by our faith in the Spirit of Life and the Spirit of Love. The deep mystery remains in sorrow and sadness, as friends fail us, and our treasured urn of joys shatters into fragments, the wine of life scattered in every direction. Here we are held in the expectation of being held until we are ready once again. To move from our hearts crying out against us, to move form falseness , into a new home for each wandering child is a gift we are grateful to receive, and strive to be worthy of.
Through the joys of the flesh, delights of our work, the depth of friendship, the stillness of humbly understanding All That Is there is the touch of a spirit of love that is fully beyond what we can see and feel right now. Held here enfolded as a baby in a mother’s bosom, with an infinite loving kindness.
( P13 22-32 P14 1-14 )
Praying now that we may never be false to ever expanding mystery within and around us. Beneath our feet, above our heads secure deep in our heart and soul. We pray now that within us we will strive to leave a blameless life, productive in action with a clear direction of being useful, allowing blameless beauty to prevail.
Each day a new lesson, a worthy duty completed, maintaining a faithfulness until a final breath. At this breath held with good deeds done, a soul disciplined by the toils of this precious life, a breath totally enlarged by the blessings of each breath of the life lived. In praying may the blessing of a good and useful life be a hope for a paradise felt in the breaths of the many to come.
( P14 15-32 )
Eternal mystery holding fully darkness and light in a loving kindness that we know we need to seek, to touch. In deepening our consciousness into this space, we are able to pour out gratitude for the blessings of another day. A day of inspiration from and for the spirit.
( P15 1-7 )
Beloved thank you for the world about us, above us, beneath us. This gift of ground to walk on, of trees holding, bread feeding and all that shelters and protects.
( P15 8-12 )
Beloved thank you for this endless beauty awakening the heart and depth of every one of us. A golden urn poured out into the world, each dawn a speck of new hope’s light. Thank you for the white light of the moon in darkness shows us untiring beauty in the fields of stars, the pastures of boundless space. Beloved of the Earth of the Sky, I am open.
( P15 13-22 )
Thank you for a nobler human world, for days of serenity, light ever heavenly, and the stars of consciousness shining within our souls. Thank you for our ability to further understand the world around us, and our hope to master by wisdom, by justice, and by love this greater nobler world that we are.
( P15 23-29 )
Stillness and silence are the expressed joy of a holy heart. In the blessing of our daily work here on our precious Earth that joy is a gift.
( P 15 30 – P16 1-3 )
In gratitude for our ability to think and go beyond. This experience of mystery is an ill defined greatness and hope. It invites a hungering heart to reach into perfection. To touch beauty . To live what is good. To breathe in every action the holy. How are you? The feeding of every plant, each morning dew, the ever lit sun; with sweetest influence the rain of inspiration flowers into a loving kindness that blesses every soul, even as we often wander away from this very hopeful experience of mystery.
( P16 4-13 )
Beloved presence here in every moment of our lives, complexities of our daily business, in trials of patience, in doubts and yes in darkness. Perhaps we can notice and hold all that we suffer, flown onwards with each enjoyment, until we have cast behind our emergence into adult experience and take our place in full human dignity, pursuing purpose, not tiring even as we run, and not withdrawing even as we mount with eagle’s wings.
( P16 14-23 )
May we be held in disappointments, in the sadness and conflictions of this one precious life. May our arms be folded around emptiness, as a loved one departs our presence.
(P16 24-28 )
May I feel through disappointments, gain something from misfortune and affliction. May the work of growing wiser, purer, becoming more holy-hearted still. There is no gratitude for damage and things lost, yet may sorrow add depth to life’s lesson l, one beyond anything a joy or gladness brings.
Let this life be an ever journey upwards, flying forward with truth filling understanding, justice enlarging our hearts. May faith in these subdue the unholy the dark. May we be open to change be our highest self. In the magic of time highest selves lies heaven here on earth.
( P16 29-32 P17 1-16 )
Cosmic dancer here on earth and every above and around we seek , we search for a presence that explains, that holds. We desire to feel and touch this. Humbly within the cosmic dance we can commune with a spirit beyond us, freshening hearts tried of life’s travel with loving living waters of this cosmic dance. This dance permanent yet ever changing, foundation of what exists into our connected future. Into beauty. Emboldening justice, wisdom and love into blessing and holding all of this world of matter and beings. This is variation without being variable, no need for supplication before our cosmic dancer. Yet in anticipating our participation in the dance we are dancing even though perhaps we never realised it at all.
( P17 17-29 P18 1-7 )
Blessed Earth of summer and winter your presence is the breath that enfolds us as the warmest arms. This is the blessing of even the tiniest, the most errant, of All That Is.
( P18 8-14 )
Spark of loving kindness, a wonder flowered into all creation. At times with hope and compassion, and with forever invitations to refresh and renew. To be astray is to still be in gift. At the farthest part of the ocean, in the omega of the morning there is holding, we are held. In the flight, far into the ocean remains all that we are. The transgression soars even still into this holding allowing at last our hearts to cry out against ourselves. The distance recedes as experience Supreme Love.
( P18 15-28 )
In silence with our wants and conditions of this finite life. In silence grateful for any happiness that crowns our days. For any and every success, the brightness in those we know and love. These special ones for us, their hearts whose beating is the music of our fireside, the blessing of our daily bread. In silence we give thanks for all things wherein our heart rejoices.
( P18 29-31 P19 1-5 )
Here may we hold in prayer the world’s sternness and severity, the sorrows that stain our face in tears. May we hold hearts that run over with sadness and distress. Some sufferings may never bring a lesson. Let alone a lesson of gratitude. Let our prayer of compassion hold this in our hearts right now.
May there be emerging comfort from the darkest moments, holding us through a world turned cold, as our perhaps hardened eye approaches the fading mortal, or that of another falls to the necessary empty seat. May we seek comfort, release and occasional hope in memory. May the strength of the Spirit of Love be.
( P19 6-20 )
May we grow stronger through this world’s variations of good and ill. May our quantity of being deliver a quality much more, be fairer, tenderer, perhaps heavenlier. Leaving each event of this life growing into a goodness and a grace on Earth into wholeness. May we be the prayer, the loving heaven here on Earth.
( P19 21-30 )
Infinite one, fully under our feet, above us on wondrous vision may we never leave a recognition of spirit, of presence.
Taking wings into the morning, deep in the furthest sea, there the Infinte remains and retains.
Darkness covers us and yet here there remains light. Infinite one darkness and light, may we be open to All That Is.
( P20 1-10 )
Infinite Spirit deep under our feet, above and around may we remain connected on this open and glorious day. The wings of the morning, the furthest ocean – here we still feel this seemingly eternal. Darkness and light in us, are us. All infinite spirit.
( P20 1-10 redux 2 )
Supreme Love that offers and gives. Beyond any music of our morning hymn, or the poor expressions in prayer stirs a loving kindness. Touching through sealed sleep, in the smoke of human ignorance and human folly too, a kindness holds us, understanding us allowing an understanding that is beyond what we are able to ask or think.
In weakness and darkness, we seek the light of our being in this Supreme Love. A place of strength with wisdom of what is wise and the deep foundation of All That Is. So, lifting to experience Supreme Love touching a presence, life’s full experiences, may a fire of recognition allow such a love to invade and flame our heart with a gratitude released in every movement of our body.
( P 20 11-27 )
Infinite expanding light, above and below thank you for the blessing of austere winter feasts and fires that hold the splendour of the night. The beauty that borders the morning and evening sky, each flash of sun across the white and wintry world, breathless I feel gratitude.
Blessings felt for that wish fills life’s love :,those near and ear to us, the one watching over us still. Blessings received in the wise words of our youth and childhood. Blessings for each example of virtue and hope. The touch of infinite light from our opening cry invites a reverence, deep love and spirit. For all parents thank you. For each guiding hand and each guiding moment and experience thank you. The gift that allowed us to live fully, from cradle, from illness, deflecting as possible harshness, lifting our childish hands as they hung down. Guiding our footsteps into to the excitement and ravages of youth. Thank you for all of the lamps illuminating the path, allowing us into our own handheld infinite expanding light.
( P20 28-30 P21 1-25 )
May our institutions honour the very everything that allows us to be. May our community enfold us in hospitable walls from our opening breath throughout all our lives.
Remembering all those who came before, both the great flowers of humanity and the darker sources of how we are. Seeds scattered and broadcast along the world, holding into a wilderness to blossom as a rose. For all those who move each state and their institutions with true ideas and ideals that allowed a better way to be for all those they would never see. Strong people of science driving the ark of truth, poets and philosophers delivering unseen perceptions, for all in inspiration even as the East is dark with night. May the chalice flame of delivering experience and inspiration into hopeful reality for a world of being the best we can be. May this be the heart of our remembering.
( P21 26-32 P22 1-19 )
A deep gratitude for the noble son, of peasants born, who led a life as a pillar of fire into days of great darkness. Thank you for his life, his words of truth, and the story of a death of a spirit escaping triumphant into infinite light. Thank you for the triumphs which are the name of Jesus, the blessings bestowed to every life, smoothing the pathway of toil, softening distress, brightening all with truth. There are many blessings now scattered across the world the gift of the life of Jesus. A gift too in believing so much more can be than simply the view of this mortal life.
A deep gratitude too for all those unknown and unspoken who have carried this flame forward with words and lives offering fully into a future humanity.
( P22 20-32 P23 1-11 )
Blessings for our many talents, their many uses, may we distinguish our very need for the highest ways. Living a full life of commandments. A reminder too that reverence for the old must also never hide the darknesses of earlier times, nor indeed the fondness of the new blind us from the separation of right from wrong. Our lives compared to the ideal in our deepest soul, is ashamedly often no better than that that came before. May we summon the vigour of our spirit to strive for a greatness that blesses our children, delivering better institutions bequeathing a character of all more hopeful and truer than the one passed to us.
May we cultivate our nature, our body into proper place and enjoyment. May we allow over all our humbler needs an ordered and delivering power regulating loves with order, strength and beauty. May we fill our souls with the realisation of being the best we can be.
Creator universe may a light burn clear in our tabernacle. May it be always ready here in the field, in the town, ocean, mountain and sky. Creator universe holding stable, souls of humanity thankful and striving for all, most fully.
( P23 12-33 P24 1-13 )
Infinite spirit, present even where two or three are gathered offer to us a view of the infinite. Of perfection and imperfections alike, we can draw closer to an infinite spirit deep within. Here a presence girds up our souls into a morning prayer of service, of patience, into strength of duty. Embracing spirit may we with our spirit and truth of action speak the psalms of our lips and the aspirations of our hearts.
( P24 14-25 )
Blessings to all the periods of our life. In infancy, in exploration with love holding us cradled here on Earth. Blessings to our high hopes, the generous aspirations and instincts of our soul belonging to each precious young. In the harder vigour of middle age blessings, with wisdom of experience, and in stumbling we rise.
Thank you for the gift that can restrain passion in an instinctive swing, hold ambition away from the wicked, preventing the devastation of the soul. And as for the gratitude of the later years, for each and every grey hair, the silver that manifests full treasures of a long-continued life.
( P24 26-29 P25 1-14 )
May I use my given nature nobly and wisely, with a strength of pious trust that allows children victory into youth as they war with the passions obstructing a deep-felt soul. Mid-life may leave the zeal of self-centred gain with downtrodden covetousness and dismissal of any pride that takes away from the highest. And as the finale approaches lend a strong staff, a lamp of heavenly fire to allow the experienced feet move still further forward, still higher upward into serenity, into acceptance of beauty and into deep oneness.
( P25 15-28 )
Spirit of Life we pray to be the noble prayer that is the practise of our daily life. That we will continually aim high, to be the best we can be. Aiming for joy, experiencing gratitude and peace that is there in every breath of every creature. May this path be found and walked upon.
( P25 29-32 P26 1-4 )
Infinite presence, touching close with all of us, help us lift our souls in the essence of spirit and truth. Where is there to be other than deeply connected with this essence. Here in the beauty of summer, through the cloudless and the cloudy skies lies the sweet beatitude of loving kindness, of tender hope. In the midst of winter there lies that sweetness too. Beneath our feet and in everything above and around.
( P26 5-14 )
Thank you for all the periods of this life. Blessed to be born, with the light that infancy shines forward. Adorning the home even as it showers its splendour into the sky. Taking us further and further. Blessed to be youthful and to be middle aged, in the strengths of body and mind, in vigorous hope, all in the power to do, to be, and to suffer. Thank you for the duty that is our life. The strength offered to gird our loins, to anoint our heads. Thanking too our venerable face, our hair, all as a crown to life that passed on its journey of time, bearing full weight and tasting fully the cup of joy and of sorrow.
( P26 15-30 P27 1-2 )
Infinite source, thank you for the unknowable connection that is held in all the periods of human life, shining a morning freshness to the baby’s cradle, tending with a meridian march in progress of each adult life and in an evening, brilliancy are many coloured rays of hope and and beauty, silvering fully the countenance of the old. Infinite source you return out of the midst of us the young, the middle or the venerable of accumulated age: there is rest from labour then, a remembrance of good works, gathered in characters that rest now. They are gathered shining in the glory of their existence, brightening more each and every future day.
( P27 3-17 )
Supreme Love thank you for the fathers, mothers and parents of many hues. Blessed are those who came before to allow us manifold kindness and tenderness. Blessed are all mothers who bore us, watching over our little heads. Blessed all those who offered that of a parent in thought, in word and in deed. Thank you for our invitation to walk in the ways of pleasantness and in the paths of peace.
( P27 18-24 )
Supreme Love thank you for the noble nature of woman, for all that differs from man. For her transcendent mind which anticipates his slower thought. Blessings for her generous instincts of morality, of loving kindness, and the compassion oh the compassion. Blessings in her deep connection of an intuition that communes into spirit beyond, knows the trust of a universe with a depth of a noble heart. Supreme Love thank you for all the women of a previous age who were moved by spirit, or those with lives more eloquent than speech, running before prophets and leaders smoothing pathways for pricier feet to tread. Blessed are all the women of today called into the lot of human life. For those who relieve the sick, who pull back the wandering from wickedness, who smooth the pillow of suffering, who teach and instruct, who lift up the fallen, overtaking the wanderers who are outcast from this world.
( P27 25-32 P28 1-13 )
Supreme Love thank you for the noble and generous emotions of men. For the continual progress in them, for the hope in a certain triumph over all malice, wrath and hate and everything g that makes war on Earth. Thank you for that Supreme Love that goes out to those who need the assistance of our arms, and for the feeling stronger than earthly interests of the body, that leads us to forgive every wrong our brothers trespass against us.
( P28 14-23 )
Beloved deep within a spiritual faculty touches us, that in darkness there is something of the morning light, and when all else fails it breaks through the clouds reminding us of peace and hope. Beloved here is comfort, here is rest. Beloved this belief, this depth, strengthens us in weakness, enlightens in ignorance, warning in temptation, comforting in sorrow.
( P28 24-32 )
Help us infinite source to use the given nature wisely and well. We do not ask to change the workings of the universe but allow the light of its infinite experience to order the outgoings and incomings of our heart such that the wisdom of our life offers trust in the truth of spirit, with deep love prevailing in our hearts. May our hearts lift as if on eagle’s wings, run without tiring, walk forwards with little pause. And in this the given nature and the human heart be together, flexible, hopeful and in open communal breath.
( P29 1-13 )
Infinite power of many names that shows a love beyond experession.
Creative cause of all conserving providence within and beyond us all, may we bathe in a sunlight of deep infinite presence. May we life our souls seeking comfort, experiencing an unexpected strength.
