Crossing and dwelling
My Soul, a boat unto Thy Shores
I pray for winds to Guide and Reach
To land, and curiously to explore
To be the same no more.
Heart-waves breaking onto Crashing Shore
Thy Peace, overflows my broken raft
And, leaking, weeping, with breast-filled ache
I am shipwrecked in Thy Grace.
May I ever rest with Thee
In this most sacred inner place.

Prayer for Advent
Eternal spirit, indwelling in us all, may we never forget the significance of advent as a time of preparation, not just for Christmas, but for the passing of the old year and the welcoming of the new.
Christmas, for most of us, means the buying and receiving of presents, the decoration of our homes with greenery…
Closing words
Give us room to deny ourselves – so that we have the space to think of others and the means to help them. Give us room to express ourselves – room to grow, expand, flourish, be all that we are meant to be.
Give us bread to feed our bodies and roses to feed our souls.
Chalice lighting and prayer
Chalice lighting
As we light this one small flame,
let it stand for the unquenchable fire of light and truth
which burns brightly at the start of creation,
and in every human heart
that is kindled with the divine flame.
Prayer
Strong Father God, protect us from harm. Show us how to care for those weaker than ourselves.
Loving Mother God, embrace and
A prayer
Here we are amongst our fellows, in a place where we feel safe, a place we know and where we are known, in a loving community.
With all the problems and challenging situations in our lives, nevertheless, we have the safe still point of this community, on this Sunday, in this place.

Follow the flame
Remember the flame that guides
The journeys of our lives;
Illuminates each hour and precious day.
Its radiance we need, we’ll follow its lead –
For love will guide us and show us the way.
Remember the reasons why
We’ll never choose to walk by;
But stand for what is right and just and true.
