Theme “Community”
Come in to the circle of community
Come into this circle of community. Come into this sacred space.
Come into this circle of community. Come into this sacred space.
Be not tentative. Bring your whole self!
Bring the joy that makes your heart sing.
Bring your kindness and your compassion.
Bring also your sorrow, your pain.
Bring your brokenness and your disappointments.

Arrival – a meditative prayer
Please relax
We are entering states of arrival.
You are invited to imagine
PAUSE
The exciting arrival of the new born
PAUSE
The stepping off the plane on holiday
PAUSE
The unexpected rainbow.
PAUSE
That moment that friendship becomes friendship
PAUSE
And yes unsettling states of arrival
The uniformed one stepping onto another nation’s land
A prayer
Eternal God, we seek through prayer to uplift our minds and hearts and refresh our spirits.
Spirit of love be with us.
We are grateful to share fellowship with each other but we come with haunting images in our minds images of people in distress, people looking for sanctuary – children, mothers, fathers, grandparents, people from across
A safe and sacred space
The lighting of this chalice calls us to attention –
as we focus on its flickering light for a moment
let us recall the shared intention that it represents –
to make this a safe and sacred space for prayer and sharing
in which we can re-connect with life’s depths and our highest aspirations –
For a better world
We light this chalice as a reminder of the tradition that holds us,
and the values and aspirations we share as a community:
our commitment to the common good,
our care for those who are downtrodden,
and our yearning for a better world that’s yet to be,
where all may know true freedom, justice, equality,
Prayer for all
Spirit of Life and Love
God of our hearts
As we seek connection with someone, some thing beyond ourselves,
We remain humbled by the awesome complexity of the universe,
The miracle of creation and the grace of the ultimate spirit
In this time of prayer, let us give thanks for our community and our many gifts by
Opening devotions for a committee meeting
We come together as a group of individuals with diverse needs and diverse gifts.
May we rise to the responsibility vested in us by our fellow members of this chapel and make our decisions wisely.
May we discover that delicate balance between the needs of the individual and the interests of the greater community.
May we listen to
A prayer
Here we are amongst our fellows, in a place where we feel safe, a place we know and where we are known, in a loving community.
With all the problems and challenging situations in our lives, nevertheless, we have the safe still point of this community, on this Sunday, in this place.
Let us give thanks for
