Theme “Harvest”
Let us give thanks – a Harvest prayer
Spirit of Life, Ground of Our Being,
at this harvest-time, we give thanks for the gifts of nature, freely given.
For the abundance and beauty of this earth, we give thanks.
For fertile soils, ripening crops and fruiting hedgerows, we give thanks.
For bracing breezes and misty mornings, we give thanks.
For cool evenings and
Sunrise on a harvest moon shore 2
Sunrise on a harvest moon shore, is gratitude.
With the darkness and light of all that we are.
May a sun rise on a harvest moon shore .
Let every breath in be the beginning of our own life giving star.
Let this breath simply give on each exhale.
As does a sunrise on a harvest moon shore.
Sunrise on a harvest moon shore
Blessed harvest moon showers the golden reminders, of lapping waves and of our closeness to a nature we think we can control.
In darkness as the moon’s shimmer dances, embraces and entrances.
Let us be thankful harvest moon you have risen again.
Blessed sunrise flowers the golden expectations
Of hopeful light, even as we desensitise ourselves daily from the
Harvest
We gather at this time of harvest, to give thanks for the many blessings we receive, and to acknowledge the work which has made them possible. So much of our lives is disconnected from the earth which sustains us, and we pause now to remember its bounty.
Along with the bounty, life on earth meets much hardship. At this time of
Closing blessing
May the spirit of constant change
Be ever renewing itself in your hearts
Pruning, composting, and growing
That you may bear blossom and fruit.
Amen.
Chalice lighting for Harvest
We reap the fields and orchards
We gather in the wheat.
The gleaners at the margins
Look for our gifts.
Share the bounty of the land:
Open heart and open hand.
As we light our chalice flame
So we laud the holy name
of love.
Chalice lighting for Lammas / Lughnasadh
The corn is gathered,
The last sheaf bound,
The harvest gathered in.
Life is given that life may continue.
Let the games begin.
Let it be a dance we do.
As each sheaf is safely gathered in
Let’s illuminate the chalice flame
As we dance the harvest in.
