Theme “Lammas”
Harvest
We gather at this time of harvest, to give thanks for the many blessings we receive, and to acknowledge the work which has made them possible. So much of our lives is disconnected from the earth which sustains us, and we pause now to remember its bounty.
Along with the bounty, life on earth meets much hardship. At this time of
Chalice lighting for Lammas / Lughnasadh
The corn is gathered,
The last sheaf bound,
The harvest gathered in.
Life is given that life may continue.
Let the games begin.
Let it be a dance we do.
As each sheaf is safely gathered in
Let’s illuminate the chalice flame
As we dance the harvest in.
Lammas, Lughnasadh
Here’s a harvest hope
That this thankful thing
For food and Earth and life;
Becomes a gratitude thing
Not for now, or for us
But for everybody and everything.
May Lammas Blessings be the wish
May Lughnasadh be truly fresh
In gratitude for what we are given
And attitude of what we can give
Of loving
