Theme “Peace”
Prayer for peace
We pray for the people of Gaza and Israel. The very thought that such atrocities can be justified and meted out to another person, let alone that the victims are innocent civilians, is beyond comprehension. Upwards of 4,000 people have already been killed, many more maimed and injured.

Enter this house of worship –feel the peace,
Warming our thoughts and feelings, bringing us grace;
Giving ourselves to worship, music and praise;
Gath’ring with friends, together our voices to raise.
Bring to this house of worship love and joy,
Prayer of St Teresa of Avila Redux, non-theist version
Let nothing disturb you
Let nothing frighten you
All things pass away
Only Love remains
Patience obtains all things
She who has Love lacks nothing
Love alone is enough.
Spirits uplifted
May we leave our time together
with spirits uplifted
and hearts enlivened,
renewed in our quest for peace and justice,
ready to face whatever comes our way
with trust in the steadfast love of the Eternal.
Amen.

O Soul of love, great well of peace,
help us to love, not fear;
we cherish stillness, quiet, space,
but worldly thoughts press near.
We need our friends,
yet we hold back; no-one is constant, true;
but human contact then
War
It is strange
How times change
What once was
Considered outrageous
Into what is now
Deemed
Right.
When I was 15
In school one day
When asked to find a simile
For war
I said
Futility.
And uproar then ensued;
For
I had failed
To see
How that would
Sound
To those
Who had
Returned
Peace prayer
Oh you to whom we pray
And to whom we give many names and none,
May our prayer be heard.
In our world there is so much conflict,
So much division,
So much hatred over so little;
The colour of skin,
The name of the divine,
The manner of dress,
Whether we are man or
No more poppy petals needed
Peace means not-war
Peace means no violence
Peace means we will have learned not to fight over disagreements
Peace means humanity will have finally grown up
Peace means kindness without limits
Peace means there will be enough plough shares to go round
Peace means equity between all people
Peace means trust and respect
Peace means
